Cracked I came across a coconut once. Hard and brown on the outside, white and sweet in the inside. Knowing of its tough nature, and the satisfying treasure, I brought the coconut home with me. I looked upon the coconut with a curious gaze, and wondered just how succulent the coconut could be. Caressing the coconut’s outer shell, I pondered on how I could get inside. I tried to cut, smash, and bite my way to the inside. I nearly tried everything. Apparently, I had found the best of the bunch, the cream of the crop. Being persistent, I finally made a crack in the shell. I let the juices drip into my mouth tasting the coconut for all it was worth. Of course, I was never able to taste the best part of a coconut, but I was satisfied. I looked at the coconut again. Seeing the coconut with a split in the shell, I began to grow sad. I had cracked such a beautiful fruit. From all other angles, the coconut was still beautiful. But the crack was like an invisible scar. Now, I say to the coconut, “A person such as myself did not deserve to taste a Fruit such as yourself. I am sorry.” - Fire . |
